Holiday Kids Foodie Friday - Part 3

Today on the holiday edition of Foodie Friday we’re traveling to Destin, FL, Anchorage, AK, and Okemos, MI where Michael, Isabella, Claire, and Ben are busy enjoying the holidays. Whether it’s holiday decorations, cooking with friends and for family, or enjoying the sweet flavors of eggnog, we all have something we adore about the holidays.

Which December holiday is your favorite?

My favorite December holiday is Christmas.

What most excites you about the holidays?

Being able to make people happy by giving them gifts, decorating, baking and having time off to relax.

Is there a family tradition you really like? Tell me about it.

I really enjoy being able to bake pecan muffins, snowball cookies, no-bake cookies, and of course sugar cookies (the only time we are allowed to make these treats due to the Christmas tradition); to give out to friends during the holidays as a secret Santa gift. Another tradition that is one of my favorites is being able to go over to friends’ house and making Christmas cookies. It really sets the Christmas spirit at the beginning of the month.

Can you tell us about a favorite food you get to eat at the holidays?

Probably all the sweets, I love anything that sugar in it especially no-bake cookies, snowball cookies, coconut pie, pumpkin pecan, and sugar cookies. But besides sweets, I like artichoke-spinach dip, lasagna, and cranberry sauce.

Do you help with holiday cooking? How? What’s your favorite thing to cook?

I help with the holiday cooking. I help my mom in the kitchen helping her make dinner or anything she needs help with. I love to make lasagna, French bread, pasta, snowball cookies, lemon squares, and much more (that is what I would make if we were having a fest).

What are you wishing for this month?

I really want tickets to Europe so I can experience their cuisine and learn different styles for cooking.

Ben from Okemos, MI who is 11 and has three brothers

Which December holiday is your favorite?

Christmas is my favorite holiday in December.

What most excites you about the holidays?

The presents and being with my family. We usually travel somewhere special and I like to travel to warm places to get out of the cold.

Is there a family tradition you really like? Tell me about it.

I like traveling to South Carolina or Phoenix to see my family because it’s warm!

Can you tell us about a favorite food you get to eat at the holidays?

Eggnog is my favorite because of all the sugar!

Do you help with holiday cooking? How? What’s your favorite thing to cook?

I do help with holiday cooking. I help by making cookies, but I don’t usually decorate them. I mix the ingredients.

What are you wishing for this month?

I am wishing to have a great time with my cousins.
